We have a deep stock of French Doors in a variety of styles and timbers. We have Rimu, Cedar, Pine, and Kauri; in and out of frame; suitable for exterior or interior. Cedar is a popular wood as a timber for French Doors. It is traditionally more weather resistant than other species and so is a better natural guard against possible rot. Cedar is also a softer wood and this makes it ideal for joinery and possible changes. In addition to all else, Cedar comes in a family of beautiful colours and the effects its grain makes are equally showy.

French Door Reglazing & Putty Seal

The current project was completed quickly and without trouble. It is a job type we are experienced in and so it now comes easily, naturally. There was damage around the knob site and within the mortise case. The likely case was rot. It would have been a faster repair had the glass pane close to the knob site not have had to be removed. Firstly, the wood around the knob site was cut free. The glass pane was then chiseled free of putty. The pane edge was recovered by chiseling old putty off and then the glass pane was reset in its original place. A match of wood was made with a mortise lock woodwork hole ready and rebate for the pane to sit in. The replacement piece was set and clamped. Finally, the repaired area was sanded and made ready for priming and painting.

There is little that we cannot modify. We can extend both height and width. We can trim the exact same. We offer a variety of services intent on meeting any specific requirements or visions. A door, as selected from our stock, may seem unsatisfactory when considering its dimensions or how it is hung. It is also possible that a single detail may prove unsatisfactory–perhaps a panel present instead of light letting glass. This can all be accommodated for. Hinges can be swapped. Any rebated sites can be packed. Unwanted panels can be removed and replaced with glass, for which we offer a catalogue of different templates.

We are also in the market of purchasing doors and other recyclables we consider appropriate for restoration. We invite anyone in the possession of such sought after materials and furnishings to contact us. We source from auctions; salvage from demolitions; purchase from home renovation sites and spring-cleaners and remodellers.
